Zygmunt Stenwak

 
Born 19 October 1958 in Krakow, Poland. Painter, graphic designer, photographer and film maker. Graduated with honors, Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow 1979–1984 under professor Wlodzimierz Kunz.
Lives in New York, USA in 1987–2000.
In 1987 has solo show  in Polish American Art Club in Manhattan New York. In 1991 opens “Midnight Gallery“ in Brooklyn NY.
In 1991–94 organizes multidisciplinary events with prominent Polish artists such  poetry Nobel Prize winner Czeslaw Milosz, musical bands Hey, Maanam, Budka Suflera, Perfect.
In 1998 has individual show in Polish Consulate in New York, followed by next year show of experimental photography “Subjugated  space”.
1998, Exit Club  NY in  conjunction with concert of famous polish jazz singer Stanislaw Sojka has art show.
1999, Exit Club art show with concert of cult band from Poland – Maanam.
1999 has a show in U Gallery in East Village noticed by prominent “Art in America” magazine.
In 2000 returns to Poland.
Zygmunt Stenwak collaborates with musical band The Magic Carpathians Project, co-produces and creates cover and inlet for the album “Water Dreams“.
Next musical venture is an experimental album “Beautiful Noises“.
Zygmunt Stenwak portray himself as independent multidisciplinary artist. He creates his own unique visual language inspired by great literature and music.
From 2008 till now he runs Stenwak Gallery in Poland.
